Apple Confirms October 13 Event Date for New Smart Home Gear Launch
Apple is gearing up for its next home hardware reveal, sending out press invitations for a special event on Tuesday, October 13. Tagged with the phrase “Welcome home,” the event takes place in Tribeca, New York, at 9:00 a.m. Eastern Time, where media members will get hands-on time with Apple’s latest push into home technology.
As expected, Apple is keeping its official details under wraps. However, recent reports and leaks point to a lineup focused strictly on living room hardware. Since the company just unveiled its newest iPhones and Apple Watches, this showcase clears the stage for smart home gear that has been in development for months.
A long-rumored smart display takes center stage
The star of the show appears to be an all-new smart home hub designed as a central command station for the house. Rumors describe a device featuring a square 6-inch display mounted on either a wall fixture or a curved speaker base reminiscent of the classic iMac G4.
Built for multi-user households, the hub will rely heavily on Siri AI voice controls, camera sensors to recognize who enters the room, and customized widget layouts for news, calendar updates, and video calls. Apple is expected to set a price point around $350.
Upgrades across the living room ecosystem
Beyond the new hub, Apple is expected to refresh its existing home hardware. The HomePod mini 2 is tipped to receive an N1 networking chip for faster connectivity alongside an upgraded S-series processor to handle localized Siri tasks. Meanwhile, an updated Apple TV 4K will likely pack an A19 series processor, expanded RAM, and a refreshed remote.
Reports also suggest Apple could unveil co-developed accessories with LG and potentially show off an OLED iPad mini. While Mac updates remain on the horizon before the year ends, next Tuesday looks entirely dedicated to making Apple gear the centerpiece of your living space.
